The Tundran Outpost

So you decided to "come fly with me." Great! I swear this must be the most crisp and clean air in the Universe. I suppose this would be a good place to tell you a little bit about myself. You can tell me about yourself too, but obviously you'll have to click the mail icon to do so.

Let's start off with my family life. I am the divorced single dad of the two best sons in the known universe. Michael is 9 and Eric is 8. I am so glad I have custody of them. They are the greatest!

Hobbies and interests?  There are many things I like to do. Recreation is an important component in a worthwhile life, and I love to pursue it. ;-)

Here's a quick of list of hobbies in no particular order. . .
Talking with friends, computing, sports, rollerblading, downhill skiing, the outdoors, creative writing, playing with my kids, playing music, writing songs, listening to many styles of music, learning, helping others.

My interests are simply defined. They consist of all of the higher things that money can't buy. . . Love, friendship, companionship, spirituality (mine anyway), responsibility, care and concern for all people, unity, serenity, generosity, and brotherhood.

And this brings me into my little schpiel on character. To me, this is a very important issue. A surgeon can make one attractive, but he can't turn a jerk into a sweetie.  I might look okay (then again, I might not) but personally, I pride myself in my character, as it took years of work and a lot of hard lessons. I'm in no way perfect or even close, but I am working on it.

So what am I doing with my life? I am presently working on my MA in Counseling Psychology, focusing on adolescents in crisis and the implementation of a therapeutic approach which would enhance various established techniques with comedy. I have been using this approach in my present position with good effect -- just a matter of knowing how and when to break the rules. I hope to be super-effective with these kids, becasue they are the name of the game. I currently hold a BA in Psychology, and am working as a Counselor Technician in a substance-abuse treatment hospital.  I work with the teenagers, and LOVE IT.  I am also a substitute teacher in a local school district.

I'm also working on a compilation of my own original poetry which I hope will be completed and published eventually, and a self-help book that I will keep under my hat until it is in print.

To catch a brief feel for my hopes and dreams, please continue with me to "The Summit." Otherwise you can click below to return to the Palace Gates as well.
