Top Things
You Can Do
to Help the Service Department this Winter
1. When it snows please do
not park your car in the street if at all possible. Please park in your
driveway, well away from the curb or edge of pavement.
2. Please do not shovel,
plow or blow snow from your driveway out into the roadway. This creates a hazard
for the traveling public and is prohibited by city ordinance.
3. When you do clear your
driveway please do not plow or place snow in the public sidewalk area.
4. If we do damage your
mailbox or post while plowing we ask you to attempt to make any needed repair on
your own. We will certainly do our best to help if you are elderly or unable but
we may not be able to send someone out to do the repair for several days.
5. Please clear a place
curbside for your trash and recycling and don't put your bags or cans on top of
the snow banks. We want to collect your trash efficiently and safely and ask you
to place your trash and recycling at ground level near the edge of the road to
help our collectors work safe.
Plow
Damage
During a snow event it is
very difficult, at times, for plow operators to judge where curbs and other
obstacles are located since everything is buried in snow. In the event that
damage occurs to your yard due to plowing operations the City will repair sod
damage in a timely manner in the spring.
The property owner is
responsible to assure the mailbox is properly installed behind the curb line and
able to withstand snow clearing efforts by the City. In the event that a mailbox
is damaged by the City plows, it will be replaced with a standard mailbox and
post only.
