Lifting Music

Well, I finally got around to updating this page. There are a few more additions, and I have an article up about the effects of "stimulating music" on lifting progress. Keep the input coming, I am glad to hear what you think. Send me your comments on new suggestions and the music below. Email me at frank416@megsinet.net with your suggestions.

Below are some favorite CDs of mine (and yours) to listen to while lifting. You can click on the title or cover of the CD to go to Amazon.com where you can buy it, listen to clips from some of the songs, or read more about it.

Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power

Metallica: Master of Puppets

This is the hardest metal CD of them all. My favorite is #4: Walk. It is the definition of metal. My advise is to turn the volume up all the way, and watch the shell-shocked neighbors run for cover.

This is arguable Metallica's best cd. Master of Puppets is the prime example of Metallica's early work. The title track, and Sanitarium are the best songs on the CD.

Metallica: Black

Guns N' Roses: Appetite For Destruction

The Black CD by Metallica is nothing but heavy metal. This CD includes songs like Enter Sandman, Wherever I May Roam, Of Wolf And Man, and Unforgiven, which are all some of my favorites.

What workout could be complete without some G&R? Welcome to the Jungle will undoubtedly get you pumped. Appetite for Destruction may be the best cd of the 80's.

Megadeth: Cryptic Writings

Metallica: Load

Megadeth's Cryptic Writings is filled with great songs. They combined heavy metal with fast-paced music to make unbelievably popular songs like A Secret Place, and Almost Honest.

This is a great cd. Songs like King Nothing, Until it Sleeps, and Hero of the Day are great tunes. This is one of their best efforts. It ranks up there with "Black" and "And Justice for All." A must have for all Metallica fans.

Stabbing Westward: Wither Blister Burn + Peel

Pantera: Far Beyond Driven

This is a very heavy CD. It has great songs like Shame, and What Do I Have To Do (both chart toppers). This is a great CD to lift to. It is extremely intense, so you better be ready for it when you get it.

What else is there to say? This is metal the way it is supposed to be. Once you get through the grinding guitars and mind-numbing drums, you get to experience the growl of Phil Anselmo's voice.

White Zombie: Astrocreep-2000

Nirvana: Nevermind

This band must be severely disturbed! The lyrics are haunting and sorrowful. #8: More Human Than Human is the best of the cd. It is probably the best CD put out by White Zombie.

Years after its release, it is still one of the most sought-after cds today. Songs #1: Smells Like Teen Spirit, 2: In Bloom, 3: Come As You Are, and 5: Lithium are the best of the cd. This isn't as hard as the other cds, but it is a great collection of rock music.

Black Sabbath: Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath

Van Halen

This was a great addition to the page. Some songs include "Killing Yourself to live", and "Who are You?", both of which are true Sabath. This cd makes lifting much easier. I highly recommend it to everyone.

The first cd from VH was one of their best. There are several great songs on it including "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Jamie's Cryin'," and "Eruption." The guitars of Eddie, and the screaming vocals of David Lee Roth get me pumped!

Montley Crue-Shout at the Devil

Rush-2112

Another great addition to this page is "Shout at the Devil" by Montley Crue. Heavy and aggressive, this cd really makes the weight seem lighter. It is filled with good old heavy metal, but is as fresh as ever.

The debut cd from Rush "2112" is a pleasure to include. This cd has a great variety. From light, acoustic "Oracle," to the metal "The Temples of Syrinx" this cd has it all. You gotta hear it to believe it.

Sammy Hagar: Unboxed

Here are some other great CDs to look into.

Judas Priest: Screaming for Vengence

Van Halen-OU812
