"3 Acres on the Lake:
DuSable Park Proposal Project"
a public art project initiated by Laurie Palmer
September 14 - October 19, 2001
Opening Reception: Friday, September 14th, 5 - 8pm
DuSable Park (dedicated by Mayor Harold Washington in 1987) is a 3 acre plot of undeveloped lakefront property at the mouth of the Chicago River. Over the past year, Laurie Palmer has solicited local and international speculative proposals for how to use this land while engaging questions about public space, urban landscapes and commemorative histories. This exhibition will include over 60 of these proposals by artists, urban planners, architects, designers, youth and community groups.
