The Nile River
The Nile River was one of
the ancient Egyptians most valuable resources and values. Without the Nile, the Egyptian kingdom would
have never lasted.
1) The length of the Nile (from White Nile
source to mouth) is 6695 kilometers.
2) The sources are: The
White Nile, from Lake Victoria, Uganda.
The Blue Nile, from Lake Tana, Ethiopia.
3) Nine countries border the Nile and its
tributaries. They are Uganda, Sudan,
Egypt, Ethiopia, Zaire, Kenya, Tanzanian, Rwanda, and Burundi.
4) Some major cities that
are located on the Nile and White Nile are Gondokoro, Khartoum, Aswan,
Thebes/Luxor, Karnak, Hurghada, Alexandria, Cairo, and Port Said.
5) Some dams that are
located on the Nile are Roseries Dam, Sennar Dam, Aswan High Dam, and Owen
falls Dam.

River’s discharge its 3.1 million litres (680,000) gallons per second.

The Nile has two types of climates.

The northern part where Sudan and Egypt are, there
is practically no rainfall in the summer.

The southern part of the Nile has very heavy rains
in the summer seasons.

Between October and May both regions have very
little rain.

Some parts have tropical climates. Here there is rainfall and temperatures vary
from 60 to 80 degrees F.

The southern region of the Nile is accompanied by
50 inches of rain during its rainy season.
