Information about my grandfather: I recently was in contact with a cousin of my grandfather, Muriel (Nancarrow) Hannan, who lives in Warren MI. She has informed me that her grandmother's name was either Jemima or Jane (Polmounter) (unsure due to different names on son's Clifford marriage license (Jane) and (Jemima) on death announcement of husband Peter) Nancarrow . Jane was from the St Austell area. She was married to Peter Nancarrow. They had two sons, Clifford and Reggie (I am not sure if this is his given name or short for Reginald), both were born in the St Austell area. Clifford was born 27, December, 1888.

I have also been in contact with Steve Polmounter from Cornwall, England area. The following information was supplied by him. MANY GREAT THANKS!!!!!!! MANY GREAT THANKS!!!!!!! MANY GREAT THANKS!!!!!!! MANY GREAT THANKS!!!!!!! MANY GREAT THANKS!!!!!!!
Steve's great grandfathers name was Edwin Polmounter, who was married to Gertrude Rescoria. Edwin had two brothers William and Reginald, (who was married to Marion and had a daughter, Leonora).

Edwin and Gertrude had three children, Ronald (spouse's name Elsie Trebilcock), Roma (spouse's name Ewart Guard), Kenneth (spouse's name Betty).

Ronald and Elsie (Steve's grandparents) had 9 children:
  1. Joy (spouse: Dick) (children: Richard, Priscilla, Patrica, Christina, Robert, Ronald, Victor)
  2. Douglas (spouse: Shirley) (children: Kevin, Martin)
  3. Melvlle (spouse: Pamela) (children: Steve, Ken)
  4. Dianne (spouse: Brian) (children: Neil, Mark)
  5. Delphine (spouse: Tony) (children: Maria, Linda)

  7. Timmy (spouse: Elaine) (children: Simon, Matthew)
  8. Arnold (spouse: Shirley) (children: Jayne, Sally)
  9. Margaret (spouse: Brian) (children: Ian, Adrian)

All these people are still live as to the information that I received and live in Indian Queens near Newquay. Most work for the China Clay Industry at ECC International in Cornwall.

I have also been in contact with other branch of the family . The Polmounter's from Pennsylvania. To my understanding the Pennsylvania branch settled in the US long before my grandparents come to the US. I am awaiting more information.

If you have any information that will help in the research of the Polmounter surname or information about the other surnames that I am researching please e-mail at the address below.

Other surname that I am researching are: Turner (Farquhar - change to Turner) (from Scotland/Canada), Allerdyce (Michigan/Scotland), Chapman (from Canada/USA), Wood (from Upper Michigan), Counsilor (from Michigan) and Townsend ( maybe from Vermont, Michigan, New York or Connecticut).

Allerdyce Family Tree

Not much is known about the Allerdyce family, but both my cousin Jeff and I are working on changing that problem. What we do know will be told in this story about the Allerdyce family.

Alexander "Sandy" Allerdyce was born in 1882 in Scotland. He was my great-great grandfather. As of right now I have found two Allerdyce family in Scotland, both which had a son named Alexander, born in Scotland in the same year.

One family was from Angus county. Their names were Joseph Allerdice and Elizbeth McNicoll, in Kirriemuie. The other family was from Aberdeen. Their names were George Allardyce and Elzabeth Bisset.

The difference in the spelling of the last name has little to do with who the people are. By what I have been told is that names were spelled by the way it was pronounced. There can be many different spelling but still be the family name that is being looked at.

The Allerdyce family moved to the United States in 1859. They resided in Surry Township, Clare County, Michigan USA. Alexander also lived at Carp Lake Township, Emmett County, Michigan, USA. Alexander may have been in the Civil War, but that has not been confirmed as of yet.

In 1865 Alexander married Rosetta Ann Townsend ( this name has not been confirm, but is believed to be true). They had at least thirteen children, but at this time only the names of five are known. They were:
