I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia in 1997. This disease(s) or syndrome is not easy to live with. It is very painful and has forced me to change my life style completely. You see I love the outdoors, going camping , fishing, hiking in the woods. But because of this disease I have had to alter the way and how much time I spend doing these. Now instead I have to dress warmer, limit the amount of walking, stand, sitting , and heaven forbid I bent over to pick up one of the grandchildren or try to play around with them.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Fibromyalgia is a invisible crippling syndrome. It effect ever muscle in your body. So all I have to do is wake up in the morning and get out of bed and I find myself in so much pain that I can hardly function in my daily life. I am no longer able to work and it is a very hard to get disability. I finally had to stop working in December of 1998. See most doctor's do not understand are have any knowledge about Fibromyalgia and due to the fact that there is so very little know about it. It is hard to prove that a person is disabled due to Fibromyalgia.

Your personal life starts falling apart. You don't have the energy to do the daily chores around the house, and having any type of relationship with your spouse may be limit because of the pain or the medication that your having to take just to function.

What is being done to help those who have Fibromyalgia? Very little. The first thing that usually happens when a person with Fibromyalgia goes to see a doctor about the pain, is that they start treating you for a pulled muscle. When that doesn't work and you have to go back over and over again because of the pain, the doctor just classifies you as being a hypochondriac. Believe me, I know this first hand. It took over ten years before anything even started to be done to find out why the pain would never go away. I end up having to change doctors before the proper test were even given to find out why and what the cause was

Well this is my story and at this time I am not sure of the ending. I still haven't found a family doctor that has enough knowledge about Fibromyalgia and how to treat it. But even with all the medication, I still have days that I can't function. To make matter even worst I've had to move in with one of my children because I can't work and have no way to support myself. Believe me when I say that having to have one of my children support me is the very last thing I ever wanted to do. I'm been a hard worker all my life and have never had to depend on anyone else to provided for me. It against everything I believe in.

I have been doing my own research about the disease and in doing so have found out that there are lots of other people out there who suffer as much or more with Fibromyalgia. I've becoming more aware of what I must do for myself and at the same time maybe I can be of help to others who suffer with this disease.

It is time for all of us who suffer with this disease and other disease to stand up and be heard. Help me and other that are trying to get Fibromyalgia to be treated as a true disease of the body and not one of the mind. Write your senator, congress person, governor of your state and even the president. Or what ever government officials you have. If we all stand together WE WILL BE HEARD. It's time for us to fight back and let people know that we will not stand for this any longer. Educate yourself and other about Fibromyalgia. Knowledge is the best weapon we have. Use it and we will be heard.

Please follow the links that I provide at the bottom of this page to find out more about this disease. Help us to be heard. Let others know about this disease and other related diseases. You never know, a family member or a friend may be suffering from this disease and may not be getting the proper treatment to help semi-control this disease. Help us to be heard. Help us to be heard. Help us to be heard. Help us to be heard. Help us to be heard.
