Interim Maintenance #2 Treatment, 56 Days (started April 14, 2000)Jessica's Complete Treatment Plan (CCG 1952 A1)
- Vincristine IV (days 0 and 28)
- Prednisone orally (days 0-4 and 28-32)
- MTX orally (days 0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, and 49)
- Either 6MP given orally for 49 days (days 0 through 48)
IV - Injected through catheter
PO - by mouth
IM - Injected in muscle
IT - Injected in to cerebrospinal fluid, she's put to sleep for this procedure.
Interim Maintenance #2This phase of Jessica's protocol is an absolute party compared to the previous 6 months of therapy. She was weened off of TPN for the first few weeks of this phase. When she stopped, eating and drinker were not a problem. She ate and drank extremely well throughout this entire 8 week period. We still can't get her to drink milk thought.
Jessica had been to school only on rare ocassions until now. She went to school daily throughtout this phase of the protocol. She absolutely loves school and seeing her friends. Mom even started letting her ride the bus again - now that the windows are open and flu bugs aren't as common.
As much as she loves school, the highlight at this time was her Make-A-Wish trip to Disney. She was taken (along with the entire family) on an expense free, first-class trip to Disney. We stayed a special resort for kids with life threatening diseases, Give Kids The World. She went to Disney and rode all of here favorite rides without having to wait in line. She went to Universal Studios and "slimed" her dad. She stayed the final night at the Contemporary Resort, where the Monorail runs though the center of the hotel (that was part of her Wish).
