Reaching Prisoners for Christ Since 1984

What does Liberty Prison Ministries do?

  • Provide chapel services in prisons, preaching salvation through repentance of sins and faith in  Jesus Christ to prisoners.
  • Provide King James Version Bibles at no cost to inmates.
  • Publish and distribute our books and booklets:

A Firm Foundation
Rightly Dividing The Word of Truth
King James Version Glossary
The New Life for The New Man in Christ
John and Romans booklet.

  • Publish and distribute over 20 of our own Christian tracts (geared for prisoners) to prison chaplains and inmates.

  • Publish and distribute The Liberator, a monthly publication of sermons and Christian helps.
  • Provide Bible-based answers to questions sent to us by prison inmates.

Statement of Faith

Summing it all up, a Fundamental Baptist is one who believes in a supernatural Bible, which tells of a supernatural Christ, Who had a supernatural birth, Who spoke supernatural words, Who performed supernatural miracles, Who lived a supernatural life, Who died a supernatural death, Who rose in supernatural power, Who ascended in supernatural splendor, Who intercedes as a supernatural priest and Who will one day return in supernatural glory to establish a supernatural kingdom on the earth.

How We Got Started

Liberty Prison Ministries originally started as a Bible correspondence school in 1984. After a couple of years we left the organization that we started with because as we were getting more and more into the King James Version, they were getting farther and farther from it. We found two other organizations that printed Bible studies and we combined them together and had a very good curriculum. I began preaching in prisons in Illinois and Wisconsin in 1988.

In 1990 we totally changed the direction of our ministry. We phased out the Bible Studies (due to lack of funds and time constraints). We had begun printing about seven of our own tracts a few years before and continued distributing them across the U.S. My preaching ministry was growing, with Shirley playing a recorder and singing. She has since added the flute and piano. We then wanted something to use as follow up material and our good friend, Verna Niedermeier sent us a small paper to read that an evangelist had sent her. This gave me the idea for The Liberator. The rest is history!

We are now printing over 4,000 copies of The Liberator each month. We now have 16 salvation tracts that contain much more than a rehash of the Roman’s Road, plus 4 Christian growth tracts and 3 Trophies of Grace tracts. I am considering printing up a book or two of my sermons. My sermons are no better than someone else’s, but they are preached and written for inmates; they say what I want them to say; and I can have my own books printed for less than I can buy someone else’s.

Shirley and I have done our best to present the Gospel and Bible Christianity to inmates on an adult level and stress that Christianity is a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year life. We are convinced that any inmate who wants to can fulfill God’s will for his life. God’s will for our lives is to help inmates to do so.
