9/00 - Well, life is looking up for the band. We are still forging on as a 3 piece, and just played the Stoner Hands of Doom festival in Youngstown OH.
We arrived late after a long night of dealing with evil hotel clerks and many navigational clusterfucks, and went on first as Borgo Pass canceled. The set went smoothly, and though it was not as doomy as much of the surprisingly large crowd expected, the vibe was still great and stayed that way throughout the day. We finally got to debut our projection lightshow, which given the short setup time still looked great (with great amounts of thanks to Tobey).
Spent the rest of the day hanging out with some great people, listening to great music, and drinking too much good and reasonably priced beer. Nyabinghi kicks tall ass! Particularly notable were Unorthodox, Plaster, Internal Void, and Spirit Caravan! Next year is in Dallas, TX. Hell yeah!
6/1/00 - Hey all, we are still trying out keyboardists, and writing a glut of new material. The CD has been getting overwhelmingly good reviews, and tracks are being played on several web radio broadcasts.
Best of all, we are proud to announce that Soul of the Earth will be playing at this year's Stoner Hands of Doom festival on Labor Day weekend at Nyabinghis in Youngstown, OH. We are confirmed for Sept. 3rd, but come on out for both days and support the bands! It promises to be a KICK-ASS time! Bands confirmed so far include Spirit Caravan, Unorthodox, Sunshine, Earthride, Bottom, Kung Pao, Solace, Penance, Oversoul, Slowhorse, Pale Divine, Plaster, Killing the Mountain of the World, Iron Kind, and Boulder.
4/17/00 - We are sorry to announce that guitarist Eric LaVergne has opted to leave the band. There are no hard feelings either way, and the band wishes him all the best. In lieu of another guitarist, the search is now on for a keyboard player as a fourth instrument. Also, the group has decided to seek out a full time vocalist. Any interested parties please contact the band. More news on those as they develop. In the meantime, the band will be gigging as a three piece as before.
3/12/00 - Ah, where to begin...? The first live gig with Erik went well, though the punk rock fans headed for the hills a song into the set (now why could that be?). Somehow managed to sell a bunch of CDs though, which is a good thing. Didn't catch the first band, though Torg did their usual bigstupidhairy set. Ought to be some photos or soundclips of the show up here soon. The band is now doing a bunch of new writing, and will be playing in their native Chicago area in a month or so.
2/00 - The band has finally finished mixing their 5 song EP "Falling Into Inner Space", including some cuts that you may recognize from their previous incarnation as Savage Henry. It's got some cool new twists to their old sound, and is suspected of being an appetite stimulant and aphrodisiac. It also has some cool new artwork by Tony Jankowski. Click here for more information or to order the CD.
At long last, the search for another guitar player is over! Erik LaVergne, formerly of several Chicago bands including Skullfish Cactus and Thickhead, brings his formidible Fender Strat skills into the band and will be sharing vocal duties as well. Look for the new lineup to be plying their psychedelic trade again starting in February.
