Green Garden

Late last night I made up this song
That turned out to be about three minutes long
It tells my life in sixty seconds or so
And I hope you won’t think that I’m cuttin’ it to low

Green Garden listens through the tunnel of love
I hope that’s not my ship that they’re sinking above
If my eyes don’t deceive me I’ve just suddenly heard
That you’re comin’ home for dinner and we’re cookin’ a bird

I looked out the window and what did I see
Not the burglar I expected but a reflection of me
It scared me so as you might expect
At that time of night I was a total wreck

Green Garden listens through the tunnel of love
I hope that’s not my ship that they’re sinking above
If my eyes don’t deceive me I’ve just suddenly heard
That you’re comin’home for dinner and we’re cookin’ a bird

They say that I’m crazy but it only hurts
When I find that they’re wrong and there are many Burts
If the world’s gonna be saved we need more like me
Who are sometimes crazy but always free

Green Garden listens through the tunnel of love
I hope that’s not my ship that they’re sinking above
If my eyes don’t deceive me I’ve just suddenly heard
That you’re comin’ home for dinner and we’re cookin’ a bird
(One more time)

Green Garden listens through the tunnel of love
I hope that’s not my ship that they’re sinking above
If my eyes don’t deceive me I’ve just suddenly heard
That you’re comin’ home for dinner and we’re cookin’ a bird
(All right...)
