Haiku - June, 2005
lazy afternoon
a butterfly sits
on its shadow

bamboo chimes--
pure white snow still falls
on Mt. Fuji

April showers
a tug-of-war between
robin and worm

Memorial Day
she touches his name
on the wall

distant thunder--
a streetlight shines
on stillness

oppressive heat
only the bobber
moves

one-way street
an elderly couple
looks both ways

summer wind
waves of bamboo grass
change color
_ June Senryu _
Sunday services--
a cell phone accompanies
the prayer
six more months--
she stops to stare through
the pawn shop's window
