AWBA FAQ

What is AWBA?
AWBA, the American Women's Baseball Association, is playing its 14th season in Chicago in the year 2001. Founded in 1988 by Darlene A. Mehrer, AWBA is one of the oldest organized women's baseball leagues in the world. If you are interested in playing some hardball, give us a try!

Who can play?
Any women interested in playing baseball! No experience necessary. We need players (preferably 16 years or older), coaches, and managers. Please pass the word to help make the season better.

When do you play?
Practices and/or games will be held on weekends from April through August, based on interest. Please let us know if you're interested in playing hardball, and we'll let you know when the next practice will be held.

Where do you play?
We have played all over Chicagoland, most often at Lombard Commons in Lombard, IL, and Vittum Park (map) in Chicago.

What's going on this year?
We are looking for players, and will schedule league practices and games depending on interest. Members of the Chicago Storm , a competitive women's baseball team in the Great Lakes League, play in AWBA, and are always looking for competitive players to fill their roster spots. Contact the Storm for more info.

What does it cost?
Due to a contribution from an anonymous sponsor, there were no fees for AWBA practices or games last season. We anticipate fees will be very low again this year.

AWBA Merchandise For Sale!

We will be selling AWBA-logo T-shirts , sweatshirts, and hand towels if there is enough interest.
