CLUB DANCE'S FAVORITE REDHEAD!!!

Donna is one of the nicest ladies you will find anywhere. She always has
a smile and a pleasant conversation.

When we asked Donna if we could do the monthly feature on her, she didn't
know what she should say. We just told her to tell the fans of Club Dance
a little about herself. This is what she had to say.

Hello to all of you faithful Club Dance fans.
When Ray and Connie asked me if I would be interested in writing a letter for their web page,
I was thrilled at the idea. Then I started wondering what should I put in my letter for the
"world" to read. Then I realized that the same people who have been watching CD for years will
be the some of the same people who will be checking out Ray and Connie's web page so I am
going to write just like I know you as close friends.
Connie said I should tell something about myself so here are some statistics:
I'll be turning 50 this year (which will not be celebrated "on the air" which is probably
a blessing for me). I've been divorced for about 14 years. I have one child, Mary Anne,
who also danced on CD when she was in town. She moved out of town a couple of years ago to
be closer to her boyfriend and to attend school so now I have an "empty nest".
I started dancing on CD about 5 years ago and Mary Anne started about 3 years ago.
It was so neat to have a teenage daughter interested in doing the same thing as her mother
and to share the same friends. CD allowed me to know her younger friends and for her to
know my older friends on the show. She could "be her own person" and yet be my "baby",
all at the same time. And after taking dance lessons for several years, I watched while
she learned all I knew about dancing and much more in a matter of a few months!
It was easy to be the proud mother whenever she did a spotlight dance (she did one with
Ryan from Florida and one last fall with Josh). And since she called me MOM, several of
the younger people on CD got to calling me mom, too. That and all the hugs and kisses I
got each time we all met to film a show is what I miss most about Club Dance.
I still have both of my parents. I live on part of an 8-acre farm they own.
They have a garden every summer that they share with me. I'm an "only" child (as is Mary Anne)
so you can imagine that we are both a little spoiled. It's spoiled in a good way, if that's
possible.
My mother is a great cook and shares "leftovers" with me sometimes. I always
said being a good cook must skip a generation. Mary Anne says it has skipped two. Ha!
Since new filming of the show stopped in February, I've tried to stay busy working, and
taking aerobics classes and doing a little dancing. The dancers who live around Knoxville
have been able to plan some outings where we meet to dance and visit. We have a hayride
and picnic planned for the summer and I'm hopeful that we'll have a BIG turnout for that.
This will be the 3rd annual picnic/hayride. The other two were a lot of fun and this one
should be even more special as it will bring some out-of-town regulars back to visit.
Any one who watched the show much probably already knows what a big University Of Tennessee
football fan I am. I've been a fan for many, many years and started Mary Anne on the game
when she was about 8 years old. I've missed very few "home" games and very few bowl games.
And of course this year my loyalty was rewarded with a National Championship and a wonderful
bowl trip to Tempe, Az. to the Fiesta Bowl. Bob W and Mary Anne and I flew out for the game
and enjoyed a wonderful trip to surrounding areas like Sedona and Tucson. We even took our
very first ever hot-air balloon ride. I'm already beginning to wonder about what town/bowl
I may be at on January 2000 when the millennium comes in. I'm wondering if I should be flying
at that time. Ha!
Maybe I'll be planning my next outfit to wear on the first NEW Club Dance show of the year
2000! Wouldn't that be wonderful!
Remember........Life is just a dance!
