NANCY P.!
ONE OF THE SHOW'S LONG TIME FAVORITES!

We thought we would share this picture of Nancy and Cal at the Sock Hop show.
She sure doesn't look like a Grandma does she? They were on the show
for a long time and hardly ever missed a taping. Everyone always wanted to know
if Cal & Nancy were a couple, or just
dance partners. We asked Nancy to share a little about her life with you and the following
is what she wrote.

Hi Everyone,
I consider it an honor to be featured on Ray and Connie's web page. I will
begin by giving a little background information about myself. I was born and
raised in Bristol, TN. I lived there until my ex-husband was transferred to
Knoxville in 1988. I am the mother of three grown children, and the
grandmother of four. My two sons still live in Bristol, which is a couple of
hours from Knoxville, so I don't get to see them as often as I do my
daughter, (Debbie), son-in-law, (Tracy), and of course, most of you have met
my granddaughter, (Brianna). She has been on the Club Dance Mother's Day show
for at least the past three years dancing with me. First of all, it has been
such a pleasure to have been able to dance on Club Dance for the past 5
years. There is no other place on earth where an ordinary person such as
myself could go and dance on a nationally televised show. I had been divorced
for about a year when I started going to Cotton-Eyed Joes, our local
nightclub, where I met my favorite dance partner, Cal. It just so happened
that my dance partner had taken up golf and Cal's dance partner was a nurse
and had changed shifts, so there we were wanting to take dance lessons with
no partner. He asked me to dance with him and of course after that first
night, we were always there each week for the lessons, and he became my
regular dance partner. We danced a lot and worked really hard to become the
dancers that we are today. Cal is a wonderful friend and has always been
there for me. We have a very special and unique relationship. Anyone whoever
watched the show thought we were either married or at least dating. That,
however is not the case. When asked once by a lady attending the show as to
why that never happened, I told the lady who asked, that it was easier to
find a husband than a good partner, so why mess up a good thing, and Cal and
I definitely have a good thing. He is an extremely talented songwriter,
accomplished musician, and one of the nicest people you would ever want to
meet. I am very thankful to have known him and have someone such as he is in
my life. We just sorta hit it off from the beginning and it just snowballed
from there. We learned to dance together, we had a great time, and we loved
dancing on Club Dance. Life has certainly been different since we taped the
last show in January. My life definitely has not been the same. I really miss
the exercise, meeting all the wonderful people that took the time to travel
here to meet all of us. I miss all the regulars, the friendships that were
made over a five year period. It is if a part of my family is missing. That I
believe, is what appealed to the audience we had. It was just like watching
family each day and I can't understand a network that would want to remove
something that was watched by so many and held the family values that Club
Dance had. But, times change and life has to go on. I have had more time to
spend with my mother, my children, and my grandchildren. I have enjoyed that
tremendously. I have also had more time for myself, spent more time reading,
gardening, and finally getting to finish an afghan that I started
cross-stitching many years ago. I have been walking a lot since it has gotten
warmer so I could get some exercise, and continue to ride my exercise bike
daily. Still, there is nothing like dancing to help keep those pounds off and
I am not doing enough of it. I do see Cal about every couple of weeks or so
to go dancing. But it is just not quite the same. One trip around the dance
floor and I am completely out of breath. That tells you how out of shape I
am. After all is said and done, I am still confident that one of these days
we will get the phone call or email telling us that someone wised up and
decided that America couldn't live without a show such as Club Dance, and
then we will have one of the biggest reunions of our favorite dance show.
Until then...........keep dancing ............keep the
faith............and.......May God Bless!!
Nancy P.
