I have yet to find a "sideways" scroller that presents a professional appearance or that is easy to read.   I am convinced that no such scroller can be accomplished with today's browsers.

I offer the following suggestions:

1. Put messages on the page, NOT on the status bar.
2. If you need or want 'moving' messages, use a method that at least allows the viewer to read the message.
3. Don't use "sideways" scrollers.
