Aphrodite

Aphrodite was the goddess of love and beauty. He who even says her name falls under her spell. He looses his mind over her and tells the same story in a lot of ways.

Aphrodite was born out of a murder. When Cronos killed his father, Oranos, he threw the body off Olympus into the sea, where it floated, spouting blood and foam as it drifted turning white in the sun. From the white foam arose a beautiful maiden.

Zeus brought her to Olympus. Hera told Zeus that they must immediately marry her. Zeus agreed and told the gods to propose so that Aphrodite could choose her husband.

The gods sorrounded Aphrodite, and at that moment the gods began to shout out promises. One of the gods called Poseidon offered to her to be the queen of the sea by his side. Other gods like Apollo and Hermes shouted out promises too. Aphrodite smiled and said nothing.

Hera then reached over and dragged Hephaestus, the lame-smith god, and told him to speak, to say exactly what she told him to do. Hephaestus did what he was told and went to Aphrodite. There he told her that he would make a good husband, and that he worked late.
Aphrodite smiled, but said nothing. The only thing she did this time differently was to put her finger under his chin and give Hephaestus a kiss. Later that night they were married, and Aphrodite finally spoke.
