Poseidon

Poseidon was the god of the sea. The Romans know him as Neptune. Poseidon is the son of Cronos and Rhea. He has six other brothers and sisters who eventually took control and divided the powers of the world. Poseidon was always relied upon by sailors for a safe voyage on the sea. Many men drowned horses in sacrifice of his honor. He lived on the ocean floor in a palace made with corals and gems. Poseidon drove a chariot pulled by horses. Poseidon was moody most of the time, and his temper could result into violence. When he was in a good mood, poseidon created new lands in the water and calmed the sea. When he was in a really bad mood he would strike the ground with his trident and cause unruly springs, earthquakes, shipwrecks, and drownings.

Poseidon and Zues are alike in showing their powers of masculinity. Poseidon had love affairs and fathered many children. Poseidon married a Nereid named Amphitrite, and produced Triton who was half-man and half-fish. Poseidon even impregnated Medusa to produce Chrysaor and Pegasus a flying horse. Poseidon raped about three other women also.

One love affair he had was with his sister Demeter. Demeter tried to avoid poseidon, because he loved her so much, turned herself into a horse. oseidon loving her so much turned himself into a stallion and captured her. They fell in love and produced another horse named Arion. Another Story is the compitition between him and the goddess of war Athena, for the city Of Athens to win the people over. Poseidon threw a spear at the at the ground and produced the spring at the Acropolis. But Athena won over poseidon because she gave the people the Olive tree. Poseidon got mad and flooded the Attic Plain. Eventually Athena and Poseidon worked together by combining their powers.

Poseidon often used his powers of earthquakes, water, and horses to inflict fear and punishment on people as revenge. Poseidon could be cooperative and it was he who helped the greeks during the Trojan War.
