AVAILABLE KITTENS

Available kittens
We are pleased to announce the birth of 5 lovely Maine Coon kittens on January 15th to Nativecat Cotredhanded of Katmaindu (Taz) and Grand Champion Katmaindu Stormin Norman Schwarzkat (Magellan).  The litter consists of two males and three females.

Currently we have one female, a blue mackerel tabby, who is available.  She is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is already spayed and current on all shots.  We are asking $400 for "Peek-a-blue."

At this time, due to tightened shipping regulations and less than ideal shipping schedules out of Des Moines Int'l airport, shipping a kitten is not an option at Katmaindu.

Upcoming litters

Katmaindu's next litter of Maine Coons is expected sometime in mid-September 2002. The parents-to-be are Grand Champion Katmaindu Stormin Norman Schwarzkat and CH Acadiacoons Madison of Katmaindu. The possible colors of kittens from this breeding are brown mackerel tabbies, brown mackerel tabbies with white, and possibly blue or blue mackerel tabbies with white.

ABOUT OUR AVAILABLE ADULTS

We occasionally have retired adult Maine Coons available as companions.  These are usually retired show/breeding cats and we are making the hard decision to part with them.  We often feel that this cat desires or needs a home with fewer cats (or no cats) as companions.  In these instances we take even more time and effort in placing our adults than our kittens -- they are our friends and deserve the best home we can find for them.  We place them in very carefully screened, loving homes.  Prices vary based on sex and age of the cat, but are always significantly less than the cost of young kittens.

The advantages to adopting an adult over a kitten are numerous.  Adults have well developed habits and do not require the extra patience that a kitten requires.  Adults are very loving and while playful, they are not as incessantly active as a kitten.  Maine Coons take up to five years to mature, and they will provide a lifetime of purrs and headbumps.

AVAILABLE ADULTS

Sampson is a 2 year old retired show cat who is a very sweet & affectionate brown mackerel tabby & white, but can sometimes be shy with strangers.  Sampson was shown in CFA and achieved the title of "Grand Premier."  However, since he didn't enjoy all the chaos that goes along with a cat show, we have decided that Sampson would be happiest in a loving home vs. the show ring.  His favorite activity is to drink water out of a facet and putting his paws on your shoulders so he can give you a kiss!

Sampson had gingivitis problems as a youngster.  After some laser treatments, we opted to remove some of his teeth from the canines back....and he has simply flourished since.  He is a large and lanky boy (15 lbs) but has never had much coat, so therefore, he is fairly easy to groom.

Since Sampson is an older retiree, he will need a longer adjustment time than a young kitten, but he would be a very loving addition to the right family.  He gets along with some cats in our house, but not others.  Therefore, Sampson should go to a home where is will always be an only pet (no other cats or dogs).  We would ask $75.00 for him and he is current on all shots.  He does have his claws and cannot be declawed! As always, we would take him back is he wasn't happy or was unable to adjust to his new home, so we prefer to place him locally or within reasonable driving distance of Des Moines, Iowa.  Please email us at ddursky524@aol.com or call us at 515-225-9387 if you are interested!

Katmaindu's The Big Kahuna is also a retired show cat, having achieved the title of CFA Grand Premier.  Kahuna is a large (14 lbs) one year old cream mctabby male with an outstanding head type and long, long lynx tips. He is a very affectionate cat who follows us throughout the house and loves to run and chase his cat pals around the house.  While he is very sweet & confident around his family and close friends, he can sometimes be a little shy around strangers.

Since Kahuna is over a year, he would require a slightly longer adjustment time than a young kitten.  He gets along well with other cats, but has never been around dogs or children...so we don't know how he would react to them. Kahuna is a healthy cat with no known health problems. He is neutered and current on all shots.  Kahuna does have his claws (he cannot be declawed!).  We are asking $150 for him.  As always, we would take him back if he wasn't happy or couldn't adjust to his new home.  Therefore, we need to place him locally or within reasonable driving distance to Des Moines, Iowa.  Please email us at ddursky524@aol.com or call us at 515-225-9387 if you are interested!
