AVAILABLE KITTENS

We are very pleased to announce the first spring 2002 litter at Thorsgard Norwegian Forest Cats. On March 6th, a litter of four kittens – two females and two males – were born to first-time parents Mycoon's Minnie-Me of Thorsgard and Champion Yggdrasill’s Shadrach of Thorsgard.  All of the kittens are brown mackerel tabbies with white.  They are a sweet, fearless bunch that all have large, expressive eyes!!
Both females shown below are available for adoption!! They are already spayed and current on shots.

Thorsgard is extremely pleased to announce the birth of one handsome blue mctabby & white male kitten on April 8, 2002.  The proud and distinguished parents are Champion Norskskogkat I Luv Lucy of Thorsgard, DM (a CFA Distinguished Merit winner) and Grand Champion, Regional Winner, Breed Winner Felis Jubatus Faetter Hojben.  Not only are the parents lovely examples of the breed, but this is also the last litter for both of these parents.  The kitten, Thorsgard's Kjetil of Katmaindu, will remain in the cattery.

May 2002 also brought another spectacular litter here at Thorsgard.  A litter of 3 brown classic tabbies with white (one male & two females) were born to Grand Champion Thorsgard's Kebra K and Champion Yggdrasill's Shadrach of Thorsgard.  The kittens have their mother's long, lovely coat & pattern as well as their father's excellent boning and laid-back personality. We can't wait for the litter to hit the show ring!  The male is reserved and the females are "on hold"...one female may become available later this summer.

At this time, due to tightened shipping regulations and less than ideal shipping schedules out of Des Moines Int'l airport, shipping a kitten is not an option at Thorsgard.

UPCOMING LITTERS

We are expecting a late August 2002 litter between Nordicwoods Bellagio of Thorsgard and Champion Yggdrasill's Shadrach of Thorsgard.  Possible colors from this litter are brown, blue, red, or cream tabbies, both with & without white.

ABOUT OUR AVAILABLE ADULTS

We occasionally have retire adult Norwegian Forest Cats available as companions. These are usually retired show/breeding cats and we are making the hard decision to part with them. We often feel that this cat desires or needs a home with fewer cats (or no cats) as companions. In these instances we take even more time and effort in placing our adults than our kittens -- they are our friends and deserve the best home we can find for them. We place them in very carefully screened, loving homes. Prices vary based on sex and age of the cat, but are always significantly less than the cost of young kittens.

The advantages to adopting an adult over a kitten are numerous. Adults have well developed habits and do not require the extra patience that a kitten requires. Adults are very loving and while playful, they are not as incessantly active as a kitten. Norwegian Forest Cats take up to five years to mature, and they will provide a lifetime of purrs and headbumps.

AVAILABLE YOUNG ADULT

Beauregard is a year old red classic tabby & white male who is available for adoption. Beauregard is an extremely loving, and friendly Norwegian Forest Cat who has recently been neutered.  We had planned to show Beau in the premiership class, but unfortunately he found cat shows too scary for his liking!  Therefore, we have made the tough decision to find a wonderful home for him where he can get all the loving and attention that he demands.

Since Beauregard is a slightly older kitten (born June 2001), he might need a little longer adjustment time than a younger kitten, but would be a loving addition to the right family. He has never been around dogs or children so we don’t know how he would react…therefore we would prefer to place him in a home with no dogs or small children.  He does have all his claws and cannot be declawed!! He is current on shots and already altered -- we would ask $200 for him. As always, we would take him back if he wasn’t happy or couldn’t adjust to his new home, so we prefer to place him locally or within reasonable driving distance to central Iowa.
