The Ash Wednesday service, celebrating the first day of Lent, is held at 7:00pm Lent is a period of 40 days and 40 nights leading towards the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. At this service participate in prayer and receive a message from Rev. Jayne Ryan Kuroiwa, Interim Pastor. Those who wish to may receive the ashes of palms in the pattern of a cross on their forehead.
Palm Sunday is observed at the morning worship services on this day. The sanctuary is appointed with palms. The service is to prepare us for Holy Week. Beautiful anthems and solos by the Chancel Choir are heard. Appropriate hymns are sung by the congregation. The message is by our pastor. Individual palm crosses are given to each person attending.
Maundy Thursday evening service is held at 6:00pm. A Seder Meal is served with Holy Communion around the table.
The Good Friday service of Tenebrae is celebrated at 7:00pm. This service is the anniversary of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Easter Sunday is observed at both of the morning worship services on this day. At this service there is beautiful choir music, hymns and prayers. A special message by the pastor is also given. The Sanctuary is decorated with live Easter Lilies. Holy Communion is served. An Easter breakfast is served from 8:30am to 9:30am in the Spirit room.
